MC & DNA
At Jordan Creek, we understand that church is more than a Sunday morning experience, more than a building. “Church” means creating relationships that go deeper than a quick chat over a cup of coffee (though we have those, too— grab a cup before service!). We believe that you can’t love someone if you don’t know them, and that is why we have adopted the Saturate model for Missional Communities.
MISSIONAL COMMUNITIES
A Missional Community (MC) is a small group of families that gather (usually once a week, and often but not limited to Sundays) to share a meal and develop deeper relationships. This may mean talking more personally about the current sermon series and how it applies to each others’ lives. Sometimes it means sharing struggles in a marriage or with children. What an MC looks like can vary from group to group, but one thing they have in common is a shared mission.
Each MC will choose a missional focus that the members can work toward together. At Jordan Creek, there have been MCs with focuses on children, neighborhoods, seniors, single parents, and more. Working together to show God’s love beyond the doors of the Community Center helps us grow in our own faith, too. But how do we take that a step further?
DNA
DNA groups are made up of 3-4 same-gendered people from within a missional community who have pledged their support and guidance to one another. This takes so many forms! A DNA member may reach out if they know you are having a trying week. They may offer to take your children for an evening so you and your spouse have an opportunity to reconnect. Most importantly, they quickly become an understanding and reliable presence in your life that permits a commitment to honesty as well. DNA members will challenge each other and gently point back to Christ when the struggles we all face can tempt us to look elsewhere for comfort. Friendships are always a blessing, but a DNA member is truly a brother or sister in Christ!
